Things to do in Brisbane
From the riverside parklands and West End's coffee strips to the bayside foreshores, Brisbane rewards a short walk. These are the inner-city and suburban pockets where a good coffee or lunch sits a few minutes from a park, gallery or lookout.
West End
Brisbane's most caffeinated corner — independent roasters, riverside parks and a walk-everywhere layout. Grab a flat white on Boundary Street and let the afternoon unspool by the river.
Paddington
Hilly, leafy and full of restored Queenslanders, Paddington runs along Latrobe and Given Terraces — coffee, vintage shops and a footy stadium a few minutes downhill.
New Farm
Jacaranda streets, a riverside park and a converted power station turned arts venue. New Farm is made for a slow morning — deli breakfast, then a long loop under the trees.
Fortitude Valley
Brisbane's music and nightlife heart by dark, and a design-and-coffee precinct by day. Start in James Street's leafy end and drift toward Chinatown Mall.
South Brisbane
The cultural riverbank — galleries, a man-made beach and parkland a footbridge from the CBD. Coffee near the arts precinct, then a barefoot lap of South Bank.
Teneriffe
Brisbane's old wool-shipping wharves, now converted warehouses and a breezy riverwalk. Coffee among the woolstores, then follow the river toward New Farm.
Bulimba

Camp Hill

Toowong
A riverside inner-west hub at the foot of Mt Coot-tha. Coffee near the village, then the city's botanic gardens and lookout a short hop up the hill.
Wynnum
Bayside Brisbane at its most relaxed — a foreshore wading pool, mangrove boardwalks and Moreton Bay on the horizon. Coffee near the water, then a flat seaside stroll.
Sandgate
A gentle bayside town on Brisbane's northern edge — a long foreshore, a birdlife lagoon and heritage streets. Coffee by the water, then a slow loop of the lagoon.
Kangaroo Point
A river peninsula right across from the CBD, edged by sandstone cliffs and threaded with riverwalk. Coffee near the top of the cliffs, then the city skyline laid out below you.
Woolloongabba
The Gabba's home turf, and an antiques-and-coffee pocket on Logan Road. Browse the vintage stores over a coffee, with the famous cricket ground a few minutes away.
Hamilton
Brisbane's grand riverside hill, with a working wharf reborn as dining and a weekend food-truck market on the water. Coffee on Racecourse Road, then the river and the wharf.
Manly
Brisbane's sailing suburb, built around one of the southern hemisphere's biggest marinas. Coffee on Cambridge Parade, then a breezy walk along the harbour and foreshore.
